These pictures were taken during the 2nd year Studio & OB Production module on the BA Film, TV & Digital Media Production degree.
In year one students are trained in all the principle roles of studio production culminating in a live 15 minute broadcast at the end of the year.
In year two that pressure is increased with the OB, meaning students have to create another live studio piece this time with an insert filmed on location elsewhere (what was always known as a VT).
The Studio & OB module has included a diverse range of location pieces, from a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, to the Frieze Art Fare to the Indoor Skiing Championships.
The outside broadcast in this project was part of a magazine show called Diverse London, which explored the weird and wonderful that exists in the capital.
In Induction week final year Communication Design students and lecturer Leora Brook visited FutureBrand.
This is the branding and design company that designed the branding for the 2012 London OIympics (though not responsible for the logo) and many other major design projects worldwide.

On 23 September Jeannine Saba, a London-based designer, set a live external project for Communication Design degree students. They have been tasked with the design of a front cover for the education supplement for Diplomat magazine which will be distributed in February. The winning design will be chosen in late November.
The students will also be contributing to the ‘Turner On The Terrace’ event being held at the Porterhouse Bar in Covent Garden on 22nd October. The event sees four artists – Chris Burke, Ben Tallon, Magnus Irvin and Pins – creating original artworks on the day, which will be auctioned for charity. The Porterhouse site was the birthplace of J.M.W. Turner and the event celebrates the forthcoming release of the film Mr Turner by Mike Leigh.
